We’re looking for the best early stage pre-launch startups to launch on our stage in Nairobi this October for a chance to win $25,000 and automatic consideration for Startup Battlefield at TechCrunch Disrupt San Francisco 2018. Applications are now closed.

Well its a call up for all startup in the Sub-Saharan Africa for a startup’s competition in identifying the rich divesity in innovation and creativity in all categories, you name it and bring that idea. An early stage startup company? technological interrogated to solve problems and develop Africa ecosystem? you be the participant! that if you qualified for the now closed application but it will be good to see the Africa innovators exhibit or could we say compete?

Startup and Categorization and what to expect

PRODUCTIVITY & UTILITY: Startups with the product or service most likely to go into full commercial production and have the biggest impact on human potential and/or the largest exit.

SOCIAL GOOD: Startups with the product most likely to catalyze social development through technology.

GAMING & ENTERTAINMENT: Startups with the product or service most likely to see wide consumer adoption and have either the biggest exit and/or impact on gaming and entertainment


Apart from the exposure that comes from pitching to the global TechCrunch audience as well as distinguished technologists, entrepreneurs, and investors live in Nairobi, the overall winner will receive $25,000 in no-equity cash plus an all-expense paid trip for two to San Francisco to compete in Battlefield at TechCrunch’s flagship event, Disrupt SF 2018.

The participating startups will fit these three categories (social good, productivity and utility, gaming and entertainment. Five startups in each category will be selected, (have been) to participate for the Battlefield Africa in October.

  1. Early-stage companies in “launch” stage
  2. Be a resident from our eligible countries (Shared below)
  3. Fully working product/beta, reasonably close to or in production
  4. Limited press or publicity to date
  5. No known intellectual property conflicts
